Hats, the Current Fashion’s Must

Hats Current Fashion’sAs the French has beret, and the Americans wear baseball caps, the British have long known with the hats which are beautifully decorated either with flowers or ribbons. Hats are even a compulsory for the Brit women’s fashion especially on certain special occasions.

If you paid attention to the Royal Wedding, you must have seen how the guests prettily accessorized their head with hats. Victoria Beckham appeared with her simple round black hat with flower decoration from Philip Treacy, while the singer Joss Stone who often appeared with her hippy style, made certain ladylike changes with her red bolero dress, plus a cream hat. Tara Palmer Tomkinson who appeared in all blue also wore a matching color fascinator by Philip Treacy.

Generally, the hats worn by the British women are not like most hats we see, they have certain decorations added from flowers, ribbons, to laces. It has been a long-time fashion style for them. Just as stated by Shirley Hex who designs hats for Queen Elizabeth and the late Lady Di, wearing hats has been a custom for them and it also reflects the symbol of status and the character of the wearer.

In Britain, certain hat trends are remarked by the famous people of wear them. Such as the hat which was worn by Lady Di when she left for her honeymoon. The salmon tricon-style hat became quite a hit in 1981 and was much imitated by the British fashionistas at that time.

According to Hex, the weather condition which sometimes quite windy, hot, and even rainy, pretty much affects the habit of wearing hat in Britain. While Oriole Cullen, the Curator of Hats Exhibition at Victoria & Albert Museum stated that there was a long history of hats in British’s custom. Cullen said that women are not considered as fully-dressed unless they wore gloves and hats.

After the Royal Wedding, the trend of hats will certainly spread all over the world soon. The United States has seemed starting to apply such trend in their fashion lately, especially since spring is coming.
