Diamonds are a girl’s best-friend and perhaps a handbag too. But what if both were united as one most exclusive item? And who could be the lucky person to own it?
The answer to the first question is a diamond-encrusted purse named “the 1001 Nights Diamond Purse”, which is later known as the world’s most expensive handbag. This item has been noted in the Guinness Book of World Records for the expensive price, which is valued at just under $4 million.
This super luxurious purse was displayed over the weekend, at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition which was held on February 20.
The heart-shaped bag, according to Pascal Mouawad, was designed to mesmerize with its lavish attention to detail and elaborate workmanship incorporating thousands of diamonds, as reported in MSNBC. Furthermore, the co-guardian of the Housse of Mouawad also explained that the bag was encrusted with more than 4,517 diamonds – 105 yellow, 56 pink, and 4,356 colorless, with the total weight of 381.92 carats.
Handcrafted from 18-carat gold, 10 artisans worked over a period of four months, with an incredible 1,100 hours to create the purse.
The House of Mouawad, which was founded in 1890, is the Dubai-based jewelry design house which has created several bras also made out of diamonds. One of its other creations was the Very Sexy Fantasy Bra, which was made for Victoria’s Secret. So, this is actually not the first time they have gone out on a limb with diamond creations.
With the fantastic price of $3.8 million, no one was reported to buy the purse yet. Well, that won’t be too surprising, considering how most shoppers are now still struggling to bounce back from the world’s recession. Besides, anyone who owns it later will definitely need super-tight guard protections to watch over the diamonds and make sure none of them went loose and accidentally scattered.
I guess that will leave the second question left unanswered for the time being.
